Puzzle A

I've completed every puzzle on the mug except for A. For some reason, I cannot resolve it. And not being able to resolve it means I can't resolve the final puzzle.

My instinct is to read the first symbol as "waves" and the second as "sun"

Which would give "sun waves". But that doesn't make much sense and doesn't supply a year.

What about "solar waves" or "solar tide"? Better, but again where's the year?

"Star waves" produces a couple of singles which have release years that don't apply.

I did consider inverting the mug, but I'm not sure that the first symbol makes more sense upside down than it did right way up.

The combination of the icons did make me consider solar flares which have that kind of look, but again reducing it to a year is tricky.

I figured out the year only because I remembered a puzzle in the original book (I think). However, I can't remember or figure out how the symbols translates into numbers. I'm bringing this up because I'm stuck on K.

Can anyone enlighten me?
